If you search term: “Cloud Computing.” There are over 42,300,000 results that come up on Google. What you don’t know is that the number of search results have been significantly declining over the past couple of years. This includes overall results from Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and AOL.

But what does it mean? Are people bored of cloud computing? Are they sick of hearing about how their apps or documents can be stored in cyberspace?

Gartner’s Lydia Leong doesn’t think so.

In a twitter conversation, Lydia stats that “[cloud computing is] far from being finished, [in fact] many IT personnel’s don’t even really understand cloud computing.” But how can this be true, aren’t IT professionals suppose to be updated in the best-in-class technologies? Lydia goes on by saying “that many IT organizations fail to understand the key characteristic of cloud computing and, as a result, fall far short for actually operating real cloud environments.”

As Bernard Golden writes in a post on the CIO website, “Simply put, many traditional IT organizations view these [cloud computing] characteristics as [an] optional add-on” In other words, most companies don’t care.
